401 Second Street

Our building has roots in Williamsburg dating back to 1960 (read all about it!). Originally built by The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia to service its utility vehicles, and later the headquarters of a used car lot and automotive shop, it is now the home of The Virginia Beer Company.

Our 2,000 sq. ft. family friendly taproom is able to host up to 135 visitors at a time. It retains the original industrial feel of the building's history while welcoming guests with modern amenities. Our bars and tables come from reclaimed wood sourced from a 1907 built barn out of Windsor, VA, and our walls and cooler are lined with the same wood and corrugated metal from the roof of the same barn.

The taproom features two viewing windows looking into the brewing area, as well as a viewing bar top running along both windows. Amenities include 16 taps, beer to go, weekly events, observation windows looking into the brewery, women's & men's restrooms, a family restroom with changing table, electric outlets, board & card games, children's books, and two filtered water fountains. Our roll-up garage door allows access to the beer garden on nice days, and access is always available via the door on the far side of the taproom.

The brewery houses a large-scale, 30-bbl production brewing system in addition to a smaller-scale, 5-bbl pilot system that allows us to promote creativity and experimentation on a regular basis. FREE tours are offered every Saturday at 3 pm & 4 pm!
