At The Virginia Beer Company, we will feature up to 16 draft selections in the taproom, with at least eight of these rotating on a regular basis. Our plan is for a new beer each week; we want to give our customers a reason to return!

A seasonal rotation, a New World-style Saison series, a variety of cask offerings, and experimental beers from our pilot system will complement our four year-round offerings. The great variety of recipes available in the taproom and throughout Southeast Virginia are made possible by our unique production model:  we have essentially built a brewery within a brewery.

Our brewery was custom built for our building by DME out of Prince Edward Island, Canada. We have a large-scale, 30-bbl production brewing system in addition to a smaller-scale, 5-bbl pilot system that allows us to promote creativity and experimentation on a regular basis. Two breweries in one building? Apparently we chose the right business when we left our desk jobs behind!

Brewmaster's Pin:  Every Friday afternoon around 4(ish) pm, we will offer a new cask concoction featuring fresh takes and traditional servings of one of our beers. Check our ON TAP page and social media feeds (links found at the bottom of this page) each Friday for information on the newest Brewmaster's Pin!

Complimentary tours are offered EVERY Saturday at 3 pm and 4 pm. Tours are limited to 30 people - first come, first toured! Just let a beertender know that you're interested in the tour when you arrive and keep an eye on the door to the brewery. If you expect to arrive for either tour with a large group, calling ahead (757.378.2903) is appreciated.

We recommend close-toed shoes when taking a tour as a brewery is a working production facility with wood, metal, glass, aluminum, machinery, laboratory liquids, and wet surfaces. Safety first!

For private tours, please use the Book An Event form (also located under the Get In Touch section of the website) to inquire about reserving a tour for your group!

In addition, the taproom at 401 features large viewing windows so that patrons may take in the entire brewery while enjoying the beers brewed mere feet away.
